Teen party ideas–the mere mention of the words is not for the faint at heart. When you think of trying to come up with some theme ideas that will float your teen’s boat, you know you will have to dive deep, dive often, and go far! So, cast your gaze into the deep sea of party ideas and check out the following to get you started.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – MOD RETRO PARTY

Take your teen back to your “day” and have a 60’s party complete with bell bottom pants, tie-dyed shirts, afros, wire-rimmed shades, mini skirts, and go go boots, just to name a few blast from the past items. Add strobe lights and lava lamps. Add tie-dye printed disposable tablecloths and tableware. Decorate with peace symbols and posters of Janis Joplin, Jimmie Hendrix, Rolling Stones, etc. beaded curtains, and hippie signs. Play retro games like Twister and dance to the 60’s music.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS GIRLFRIEND PARTY

The birthday “girl” is the guest of honor in this party. All of her friends will treat her like royalty and pamper her to the nines. Blindfold her and drive to a video rental store where she selects a movie or two. Blindfold her again and drive home where you have set up a “salon.” Create stations for any combination of hair, nails, facial, make-up, and massage. All of her friends will be performing the various services. Dress her up, blindfold her again, and take her out for a nice dinner where you will meet up with the guys.

Although party planning with a teen may be a bit challenging, remember the payoff will all be worth it in the end. When you see that smile on your teen’s face on their special day, it will have all been worth it! Alas, another special memory created.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – PIRATE PARTY

With the advent of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, teens love the concept of having a pirate party. Create a treasure map to serve as the invitation, which will set the tone of the party. Create a tropical island pirate paradise by adding palm trees, pirate flags, gold coins and bead necklaces. Of course, you will want to have everyone come dressed as pirates to add to the atmosphere. You can opt to either watch one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies or play one of the Pirates of the Caribbean game adaptations of Life or Monopoly.

TEEN PARTY IDEAS – TITANIC PARTY

Teens love spring formal, the prom, so a Titanic party is sure to be a hit, which requires formal attire. You can either provide two rooms for everyone to get ready in–guys in one and girls in the other, or just have the girls all get ready together and have the guys show up at party time. Remember, half the fun for the girls is helping each other do their hair, makeup, and nails. Serve a formal sit-down dinner with the parents dressed as servers. Also, have someone serve as the Captain of the ship to dine with the guests. Add live music playing in the background. You might consider using your teen’s drama and music departments for these positions. Get someone from the art department to draw caricatures of the guests. Set-up a few tables with games to play.

So, there you have it! Pick a theme, go crazy with decorations to create a fun party atmosphere, cut loose, and have a great time! Your teen will thank you later.
